Newman University Technology Accounts


Hello!

 

Please read below for information on how to access your Newman University accounts for the first time. If you need any assistance with these accounts, please contact the Information Services Desk at:

As a Newman student, you are assigned a unique login ID:

Your Username: Last Name + 6-digit Student ID*

Password: Your password will be randomly generated and sent to you in a welcome email from NewmanU System Accounts with your other account information.


*The last name in a username is limited to 14 characters. If a student’s last name results in a username of 15 or more characters, the last name will be truncated. For example, if Joanna Smith’s last name changes to Smith-Hammerstein, her new username would be smithhammerste123456.


Your Newman University technology accounts:

  • Microsoft 365 (Office 365) - on campus computers, and library online resources, also includes your Newman University email account 

  • Jetstream - Student Information System portal

  • Canvas - Course content access

  • Google Workspace


To ensure your accounts are secure, you will be prompted to change your password upon your first login to Microsoft 365, Jetstream, and Google Workspace. All accounts except Google  Workspace can be accessed through the NU Homepage under Menu, Student Quicklinks” (box on the top right-hand side of the front page of the NU website). You will set your Canvas password through a link that is sent to your Newman University email address, this will be explained later in this email.

Your Microsoft 365, JetStream, and Google Workspace accounts will all use the same initial password shown below.

Changing your Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace password will NOT change your JetStream password and vice versa.

The passwords for these three accounts are not synchronized.


Microsoft 365 and Student Email:

Your Newman University email lives in Microsoft 365 can be accessed directly by going to https://login.microsoftonline.com/?whr=newmanu.edu Your Microsoft 365 username is your student email address. NU email serves as the official form of communication for the university. Use your Microsoft 365 account to log into on-campus computer and Papercut. In addition, when you are off campus, you can use your Microsoft 365 account to access the electronic databases provided by Dugan Library. If you are a currently enrolled student, your Microsoft 365 account also includes downloadable versions of the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, etc.).

Microsoft will prompt you to set up 2-step verification for your account the first time you logon. You will need to use a web browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) the first time you log in. JetStream:

JetStream is our Student Information System web portal where you can view your course schedule, register for classes, review progress towards your degree, view and edit your personal information, review your financial aid, connect to NUPay to pay your bill, and check your grades.

You will log in to JetStream from the NU Homepage under the menu option “Quick Links”, the Current Students tab, or use https://jetstream.newmanu.edu/fusebox.cfm.

JetStream will send a 2-step verification code to your Newman University email address that you will need to supply to access JetStream. This 2-step code is case sensitive.


Students with Financial Aid:

Once you are logged into JetStream, you will also be able to access your Financial Aid information. Under the [Financials] tab, select “Financial Aid Login” and then “First Time User”. Follow the instructions to activate your account.

In the Financial Aid portal, you will be able to:

  • Check the status of your financial aid

  • View a list of documents received and documents still needed

  • View and accept your financial aid awards


Canvas:

Once enrolled in a class presented through Canvas, a Canvas account will be created for you automatically. Your Canvas username will be your full NU email address.

When your Canvas account is created, you'll receive a welcome email sent to your NU email account with the subject line "Confirm Registration: Canvas" sent from notifications@instructure.com. Follow the instructions in this email to set your Canvas password. Log in to your Canvas account using your Newman University email address. Log in to your Newman University Canvas instance at https://newmanu.instructure.comUse the 'Forgot Password?' function next to the 'Log In' button to reset your Canvas password if you forget it or if you can't find your Canvas welcome email. Canvas passwords are not synchronized to anything else.


Google Workspace:

Google Workspace gives you access to the Google Workspace suite of applications. Google Workspace can be access by going to: https://workspace.google.com/dashboard?skip_cache=true%22%22 Your Google Workspace account ID is your email address.

Google will prompt you to setup 2-step verification for your account the first time you logon. You will need to use a web browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox) instead of an email application the first time you login. If you do not setup 2-step verification, you will be locked out of your account.
